Veterans Voices of Canada

All Veterans have a story, and we at Veterans Voices of Canada would like to give them the opportunity to tell it through our professional video documentation. From WW2 to recent Veterans, we feel it is very important to document their story for history. Many RCMP Veterans have served in military capacity, and we would like to document their story along with their military brothers and sisters.

Wounded Warriors Canada

Founded in 2007, Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC) works to “honour and support Canada’s ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans, First Responders, and their families.” WWC combines its programs, clinical support, research, and mental health promotion to help transform the lives of service personnel and their families who are affected by Operation Stress Injuries. Operational Stress Injury (OSI) is described as any persistent psychological difficulty resulting from operational duties performed while serving in the Canadian Forces or as a member of the RCMP. Difficulties may occur during combat duties, after serving in a war zone, in peacekeeping missions, or following other traumatic or serious events not specific to combat. The charity runs programs in four main areas: Group Therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy for PTSD, Resiliency Training & Respite Care, and Research & Education.

HOMES FOR HEROES FOUNDATION

The Homes For Heroes Foundation was developed in response to the growing number of military veterans who are facing crisis as they return to civilian life and find themselves on the path to homelessness.  As many as 5,000 veterans are homeless and living on the streets in Canada.  These veterans put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms and now they need, and deserve, our support.  With your help Homes For Heroes will provide them with housing along with the resources, services and training that will enable them to successfully transition back into civilian life.

ADOPT A VET

Adopt-A-Vet is comprised of current and retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces whose common vision is to make sure no Veteran is forgotten and never feels alone (especially over the holidays). Adopt-A-Vet achieves this primarily through their holiday campaign, where they spend time with the Veterans bringing them gifts and sharing camaraderie, which is the least we can do for the sacrifices they made for us. Our second goal is to ensure their stories are never forgotten and are hoping to achieve this by partnering with the Safety Village of Windsor. Having the Safety Village as a partner will allow the community to interact with the veterans, allowing the new generation to hear stories and learn the history of our local heroes. Adopt-A-Vet will do anything it can to ensure all their missions are successful.

Never forgotten in life….Or in death.

AMERICAN VETERANS/MILITARY ORGANIZATIONS SUPPORTED

"Serving honor and need"

The Gary Sinise Foundation was established under the philanthropic direction of Gary Sinise, an actor and forty-year advocate for the nation's military and defenders. The Foundation's outreach supported those who sacrifice to defend the United States: active duty, veterans, first responders, and their families.

The Foundation achieves its mission through a number of programs designed to show gratitude for these American heroes through entertainment, family support, and acts of appreciation. The Foundation builds specially adapted homes of severely wounded veterans, hosting daylong morale-boosting celebrations at military medical centers across the country, and providing meals to veterans and their families across the country. The Foundation is committed to ensuring veterans' sacrifices are never forgotten.

These service dogs are taught to open doors, pick up items, turn on lights, pull wheelchairs, go for help, and a number of other actions. FSD is donor-funded and doesn't charge its clients for any of its services. They also provide lifetime support for service dogs and their owners.
